What technologies do you use in your life every day? How do they make your life easier?
Share some ideas about how technology can be used to support/supplement the math curriculum. Explain why your ideas would appeal to teachers and students.
technologies that i use in everyday life are my cell phone & computer mostly. they make my life easier because i can research how to do things [like figure out how to do homework] on the computer & if im on the go then i use my phone.
i liked when we did the math questions on the survey site because it's fun for the students & it helps to get everyone involved in class, so it makes it easier on teachers.
Devin Y Technologies makes my life easier everyday. Every technology that i use has something to do with math. First of all, i use my iPhone which has a calculator in it and a tip calculator. Whenever there is a certain math problem that contains really big ugly number such as 4.5264164 times 652595.3556, it is almost impossible to do by head. I can use my iPhone for this tragedy or my calculator. Another technology that makes my life easier is a pedometer. When I go for a jog or a walk, the pedometer can tell me how many steps i took. I didn't even have to count my steps. Technology helps me save time, one step at a time.
Technology can be used in many different ways to help student and teachers. An example of this is a powerpoint! Instead of the teacher writing all the stuff down on the board, then erasing, and writing more, he/she can just make a powerpoint that can just show all the work, and the best part of the powerpoint is that it can be shown to every class and the work will all be the same for each student. That's fairness. Another way that math appeal to students and teachers is that there's games online based on mathematics. The teachers can grade you on how much effort you gave and did you learn anything from it. This would be very appealing to students like my age because many of us are into games. It also makes teacher's life easier.
Great insights, Devin! Your post answers my questions and includes nice details! It sounds like you use technology a lot in your life. When you talked about pedometers, I thought about this cool (free) app on my Iphone. It's called Nike & GPS - It tracks how far you've walked/run, and how much time it took you. It also calculates how fast you run a mile from that information, and shows you a map of your route. Technology really is amazing!
You brought up how technology helps both students and teachers. When I first started teaching, I had a blackboard and an old-school overhead projector. Now that I have a SMARTboard, laptop, internet access, and a built-in overhead, there are so many opportunities to do cool things - I love it!
